The Interdisciplinary Centre for Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity (I.C.E.B.) is a newly established research center at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS), dedicated to advancing the understanding of biodiversity and eco-system services. Our mission is to measure and analyze the interactions between society and ecosystems through inter-disciplinary and transdisciplinary research. By providing evidence-based insights, we support decisions that foster sus-tainable development.
Senior Researcher - Strategic Project Developer for I.C.E.B. (m/f/d)
Job profile and tasks
As a Strategic Project Developer, you will play a key role in developing interdisciplinary projects focused on biodiver-sity, collaborating with partners to design impactful project proposals, and leveraging and advancing the shared R&D infrastructure of the I.C.E.B.
Tasks. Supporting the development of research projects and initiatives of the center’s departments and teams.
- Advancing the center’s R&D infrastructure through project-based initiatives.
- Managing the center’s knowledge balance, including tracking publications, project volumes, and research ca-pacities.
- Representing the I.C.E.B. in relevant committees, forums, and events.
Required competencies and qualifications
Skillful and experienced researcher with a proven ability to develop complex and demanding project designs. Visionary in applied research, excelling in consortia and diverse project partnerships.
- A master in natural sciences with excellent results. Research experience with a focus on biodiversity or biodiversity technologies is desirable
- At least 5 years of professional experience, ideally in an academic research or company setting (e.g., planning, research, or consulting).
- Proven ability to develop complex international and interdisciplinary projects, including planning of human re-sources and finances as well as excellent English skills.
- Highly team-oriented with a precise, reliable work ethic and the ability to inspire project partners, funding bodies, and stakeholders.

The I.C.E.B. is located at the CUAS Campus in Villach, where we are also significantly investing in new state-of-the-art R&D infrastructure facilitating modern ecosystem services and biodiversity research, including field labs, mo-bile research facilities, and stationary laboratories. We offer excellent working conditions in a green campus environment on the banks of the Drau River.
